Davines was founded in 1983 in Parma, Italy, by the Bollati family as a research laboratory specialising in high‑quality hair and skincare formulations for renowned cosmetic companies. The name Davines comes from Davide, the company’s chairman, and his sister Stefania, and is pronounced Da‑vee‑ness. Every Davines product is designed, formulated, and produced in their Parma laboratories, meaning all products are made in Italy. The brand is built on the belief that beauty and sustainability go hand in hand—what they call “sustainable beauty.” Their mission is to encourage care for oneself, the environment, and the things we love, with sustainability representing their responsibility to people, partners, customers, and the planet.

All Davines packaging is zero‑impact, guided by principles such as minimising raw materials, using recyclable components, optimising logistics, and reducing waste. They use only the necessary amount of plastic, avoid external boxes whenever possible, and prioritise recycled or compostable materials. Many packages are designed for reuse, and all are recyclable. Davines was the first Italian professional cosmetic company to join LifeGate’s Zero Impact® project, compensating for greenhouse gas emissions. Since 2018, the brand has achieved carbon‑neutral packaging across all product lines, supporting global reforestation efforts, including the Ethio Trees project in Ethiopia, which restores land, protects forests, and supports local farming communities.

The Davines Village—its headquarters—is carbon neutral, powered entirely by renewable electricity and thermal energy (biomethane). These clean energy sources emit no CO₂ and are continuously renewed, ensuring every product is created using sustainable energy. Davines has been a certified B Corp since 2016, recognised for its commitment to balancing profit with positive impact. This certification reflects the company’s ongoing efforts to develop projects that benefit both people and the environment, embodying a modern, responsible approach to business.
